So the talent show was an interesting example of the lack of communication coming from the school. She tried out two weeks ago today. Then on Friday the list was supposed to be posted of who made the show. When Marlo looked for the list it wasn't up yet so she didn't know until after she missed her practice on Tuesday that she was in the show... so I woke up at 5:30 every morning last week to get her there for the rehearsals. Thursday she had an appointment and couldn't go to school and then Friday was the show. I tried finding out if there were other performances we could see besides the night performance. Marlo's teacher told me 10 and 11 am. So papi took time off, got a shuttle (because our car is still not available- see other post)picked up me and Teac and then we went up to the school for the 11 am performance only to find out that she at sung at 10 am and was not going to sing again. Talk about frustrating. I didn't get one note home saying something like: your child has been selected to participate in the talent show.. he/she will be required to be at school for rehearsals at these times and these are the times for the performances... nothing!!
We went to the principal's office to let her know and she was very apologetic...and worried that there would be other parents as well that didn't have any information.
You know, sometimes in the US it feels like they do everything just to avoid a law suit... well here they just don't care so no one tells you. I think part of it is that most of the kids have been going to the school for years and so they know how things work.. it is just the new people that suffer.

Even in the US the schools don't communicate very well. That is way frustrating. Hang in there this will not be the first time that you have a miss communication. Love ya and miss you and wished you lived in No VA.

Communication is a HUGE issue here, as well. I'm on the PTO and STILL don't get information I need. Congrats to Marlo for making the show. Sorry you guys didn't get to see it, and after all that effort. Bummer!
