butter for greasing dish
5 medium Granny Smith apples (about 1 1/2 pounds)
1/2 c. sugar
1 t. ground cinnamon
2 t. lemon juice
1/2 c. unsalted matzo meal
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. sliced almonds
2 T. butter, melted
1/8 t. salt

  1. Heat oven to 350° F.
  2. Peel, core, and cut the apples into 1/4" slices
  3. Butter 11" x 7" baking dish
  4. Combine apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice, and toss gently. Spoon into baking dish and set aside
  5. Combine the matzo meal, sugar, almonds, margarine, and salt, and stir well
  6. Sprinkle over apple mixture
  7. Bake for 1 hour or until browned

Serves 6 - 1 cup portions
